Benedikte Klüver works across painting, needlepoint and photography to explore the relationship between colour and material. Colours both clash and harmonise through her minimal compositions, which she describes as ‘a map of temperaments’. Klüver’s abstract paintings are comprised of washed layers of oil paint, referencing both the geometric and the organic through a distinctive palette that is simultaneously vibrant and earthy. Klüver’s embroidered works explore a geometric formalism through the traditional technique of needlepoint. Supplementing her painting practice, these miniature and precise tapestries are produced in moments of waiting. The resulting artworks are reminiscent of the work of Bauhaus weavers and call upon the historical significance of women’s tapestry making.

Klüver was born in Denmark in 1996 and graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2022. Her work is held in private collections in Denmark, France and the UK. She has exhibited with Canopy Collections, London; Vinvin Gallery, Vienna; Opera Gallery, Milan; Anderson Contemporary, London; MAMA, London; Was Art Center, Hong Kong.
