Irvin Pascal’s artistic practice encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture, performance and sound. Often involving rich colour palettes and geometric patterns, his work embraces a theoretical approach to colour. His carefully formulated compositions bring together geometric, totem-like shapes alongside references from both classical and popular culture. His abstract compositions draw influence from mathematics and the dynamics of musical arrangement whilst his figurative works reference the built environment and landscape of Sussex, where he based, as well as scenes from the time he has spent in Los Angeles, US and Kingston, Jamaica. His works often bear the date when the work was initiated, as a personal record of the art making process.
Pascal’s work is held in private collections in the UK, USA, France and Nigeria. He has exhibited at The Royal Academy of Arts, London; The Bluecoat, Liverpool; Stephen Friedman Gallery, London; Canopy Collections, London and Paris; Cob Gallery, London; Lychee One, London; Jac Forbes Contemporary, Malibu; The Pit, Los Angeles.
