Irvin Pascal’s practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, performance and sound. Often characterised by rich colour palettes and geometric patterns, his work embraces a theoretical approach to colour and composition. Pascal brings together geometric, totem-like forms with references drawn from both classical and popular culture. His abstract compositions are informed by mathematics and the structures of musical arrangement, while his figurative works reflect the built environment and landscapes of Sussex—where he is based—as well as scenes from time spent in Los Angeles and Kingston, Jamaica. Many of his works bear the date they were begun, serving as a personal record of the making process.
Pascal’s work is held in international private collections. He has exhibited at The Royal Academy of Arts, London; The Bluecoat, Liverpool; Stephen Friedman Gallery, London; Canopy Collections, London; Soho House, Brighton; Cob Gallery, London; Messums, London; Lychee One, London; Jac Forbes Contemporary, Malibu; The Pit, Los Angeles.
