Anastasia Lopoukhine works across pen and ink, charcoal drawing, and collage. The meticulous nature of her process results in artworks that carry an intensity of expression, often lifted by a hint of wry humour. Adopting the role of narrator, Lopoukhine draws on personal experiences and historical events. Working from memory, she often depicts characters from her childhood, using them as prompts to recall the funny, grotesque, and strange aspects of everyday encounters. With a background in etching, she is trained to commit to every line she draws, allowing mistakes to guide her; as in life, one can never go back and rub things out.
Lopoukhine’ work is held in international private collections. She has exhibited at The Bomb Factory, London; Canopy Collections, London; Transatlantic Gallery, Paris; Café Privé, New York; New York Academy of Art, New York; Forum Gallery, New York; World Trade Center, New York; Museum of Applied Arts, Moscow.
