Freya Gabie works across drawing, sculpture and installation to create artworks that examine our exchange with the environments that surround us. In her series of unique drawings titled Monuments, she documents the piles of rubbish that accumulate near her home in central London. These works are a reflection on rubbish as the exhalation of society. Despite their subject matter, the drawings possess an unexpected beauty, characterised by saturated colour and intricate, almost resplendent forms.

Gabie’s work is held in international private and public collections. She has exhibited at Jerwood Space, London; Danielle Arnaud Gallery, London; Standpoint Gallery, London; Royal West of England Academy, Bristol; Burton Gallery and Museum, Bideford; Styx Projects, Berlin. Public commissions include Historic England, UK; University College London; Franconia Sculpture Park, Minnesota; Eriksburg Museum, Sweden.
