CANOPY at 14 Cavendish, London

We are delighted to announce our next major group exhibition, eponymously titled CANOPY. Taking place for three days only this October, the show will bring together over fifty artworks by living artists, including David Batchelor, Charlotte Beaudry, Richard J. Butler, Thomas Cameron, William Cobbing, Lara Davies, Irvin Pascal and Dan Rees, alongside a selection of modern paintings and drawings presented by dealers Stern Pissarro Gallery and Härb Nuti, including Lucien Pissarro, Gustave Cariot, Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso.

CANOPY will be hosted in an exceptional 18th-century Grade-II listed Palladian mansion in Marylebone. The venue itself, known as 14 Cavendish, is an antithesis to the traditional white cube and will offer a more intimate experience to discover and acquire art. Artworks on show will range from figurative and abstract paintings, ceramic sculptures and small works on paper through to monumental textile pieces.

Rather than being displayed in visual isolation against plain white walls, the artworks will be placed into conversation with the history of the building and by extension, the historical context of London more broadly. Throughout the exhibition, standout pieces of 20th century Nordic design presented by Modernity will also be on display, as well as upholstered furniture by British makers Sedilia.

“The London art scene has faced significant challenges in recent years and the city increasingly needs to defend its place in the global art market” say co-founders Louise Chignac and Cécile Ganansia. “Taking place the weekend before Frieze opens, CANOPY is an event that aims to celebrate the city’s resilience and its broad demographics of art collectors, artists and dealers. With prices ranging from £500 to £500,000, the exhibition aims to welcome new art buyers, as well as reinvigorate desire and curiosity amongst existing collectors at a moment when the art market is suffering a sharp slow down in activity.”

Artists include David Batchelor, Charlotte Beaudry, André Brasilier, Richard J. Butler, Thomas Cameron, Gustave Cariot, Celeste, Marc Chagall, William Cobbing, Steven Cox, Lara Davies, Sam Francis, Freya Gabie, Franz Hein, Benedikte Klüver, Sarah Lederman, Anastasia Lopoukhine, Daniel MacCarthy, André Maire, James William Murray, Carlos Nadal, Irvin Pascal, Pablo Picasso, Lucien Pissarro, Baud Postma, Emerson Pullman, Dan Rees, Macarena Rojas Osterling, William Stein, Marianne Thoermer, Ian Whittlesea, Aethan Wills.
