Twenty-five years after the publication of Chromophobia, his landmark book examining the fear of colour within Western art and culture, David Batchelor launches Chromophilia, a suite of twelve screenprints that celebrates colour in all its exuberance.

Published and printed by Atelier JI, the series translates Batchelor's sculptural and collage-based practice into print with extraordinary precision. Each composition is an imagined sculpture: stacks of geometric forms whose carefully balanced relationships are animated by vivid, saturated colour. Through a bespoke screenprinting process using structured catalysed inks, each work possesses a remarkable physicality, with colour sitting proudly on the surface of the paper.
