La Chapelle Saint-Antoine
We are delighted to have worked with La Chapelle Saint–Antoine to facilitate a month-long residency on the Greek island of Naxos for Richard J. Butler.
Founded in 2021, the residency hosts two artists per month from April to November each year and is open to all artistic disciplines and nationalities. The residency is situated within La Chapelle Saint-Antoine, the site of a 17th century monastery. Naxos is the largest island of the Cyclades and has historically been a strategic crossroads for many civilisations. With a variety of landscapes, the island provides the ideal setting in which artists can develop their practice.
At the end of each residency La Chapelle Saint-Antoine opens to the public, allowing local residents to meet the artists and see the outcomes of their time on the island.
Richard has set up his studio in the derelict chapel on the residency site and is busy working on a new series of Celestial Bodies paintings. We are looking forward to seeing this new body of work develop over the coming weeks.
