      51 x 41 cm
For the past decade James William Murray has explored the motif of a rectangle as an abstracted representation of the human body. These works draw on the language and processes of painting yet reject its core convention: the application of paint to a surface. Instead, these monochromatic pieces are constructed through a careful layering of polished graphite onto wooden panels, transforming them into dark, reflective surfaces.
