This painting of the Severn Bridge, which connects England and Wales, forms part of a body of work that Lara Davies produced after an extensive bicycle journey that she made from Land’s End in Cornwall to John o'Groats in Scotland during the summer of 2023. In these paintings seas, hillsides, and lochs are slowly built through Davies’ careful layering of paint to explore the relationship between landscape, memory and family history.
