Baud Postma is a photographer whose practice centres on a labour-intensive, highly technical approach to large-format photography. His ongoing series A Slow Dance began during the 2020 coronavirus lockdowns, when he found solace in the simple act of bringing flowers into his London home. With time newly available, he began isolating stems of interest, capturing the gradual unfolding of each bloom and observing their subtle movements in shifting sunlight. Time is central to Postma’s practice: the painstaking methods behind each photograph become a testament to the art of slowing down, inviting viewers to pause, contemplate and appreciate the quiet beauty of the present moment.
