Baud PostmaBlue Anemone
Baud Postma’s ongoing series, A Slow Dance, began amidst the backdrop of the 2020 coronavirus lockdowns. Like many individuals navigating this period of uncertainty, the artist found solace in the simple act of bringing flowers into his London home. With the luxury of time, Postma began to isolate stems of interest, capturing the gradual unfolding of each bloom, patiently observing their subtle movements choreographed by the shifting sunlight.
Fundamentally this work is about the act of looking, both having and taking the time to truly observe. Time serves as a fundamental element in Postma’s artistic practice. The labour-intensive approach he takes to creating each photograph stands as a testament to the art of slowing down, inviting viewers to pause, contemplate, and revere the quiet beauty of the present moment.
