Anastasia Lopoukhine works across pen and ink, charcoal drawing and collage. Often drawing from memory, her works depict characters from her childhood, which function as prompts to help her recall the funny, grotesque and strange nature of everyday encounters. Lopoukhine describes the subject of this drawing as a “plotting man who would put the milk in before the tea”. This piece is a meditation on pattern and a lot of the patterns from this drawing are reused elsewhere throughout her work.
