Irvin PascalIsland Crusade

£22,000

Irvin Pascal’s figurative works reference the built environment and landscape of Sussex, where he based, as well as scenes from the time he has spent in Los Angeles, US and Kingston, Jamaica. This painting depicts a scene in Kingston, Jamaica which Pascal captured whilst exploring the capital city. He was drawn to this subject who he saw walking down the street equipped with what looked like a small sword. Pascal was curious about this individual’s purpose; perhaps he is a farmer, labourer, or gardener. The ambiguity inspired this composition, in which the figure appears alongside Pascal’s signature geometric abstraction.
