Anastasia Lopoukhine works across pen and ink, charcoal drawing and collage. Often drawing from memory, her works depict characters from her childhood, which function as prompts to help her recall the funny, grotesque and strange nature of everyday encounters. This drawing is inspired by an in-joke between the artist and her French mother, who would laugh together at the fact that English girls are easy to spot in Paris because their messy hair never seems to have been brushed.
